The Ultimate Grandparent Gift Guide

Whether you’re looking for a gift from you or from the kiddos, grandparents can feel a bit tricky to shop for. If you’re buying for yours or your partner’s parents, it feels like “haven’t I already given you the greatest gift of all? These grandbabies?!” Only joking of course, but after shopping for the kids, JD, our siblings, nieces + nephews, sometimes my brain wants to crap out when I’m searching for the perfect grandparent gift that isn’t a coffee mug or a kitschy sign. So this year I’m really excited to share a gift guide dedicated to the grandest parents on your shopping list.

If your parents/grandparents aren’t big on “physical gifts”, it can be even more difficult to find something that they’ll love. In those cases, think outside of the box and consider the gift of professional family photos or an ancestry kit. Since those can sometimes be a little pricey, don’t be afraid to split the cost with siblings so you can give the grandparents in your life something really special this year.

One // Shower Steamers // Turn a bathroom into a spa instantly with these shower steamer cubes! All it takes is one cube per shower and you’ve got an aromatherapy steam session on your hands.

Two // Ring Doorbell // I know we like to give our parents and grandparents grief for being out of the tech loop, but they definitely know their way around a smartphone! This is a great option for modernizing your parents’ space with easy to use technology.

Three // Handmade Ornament // An oldie but such a goodie, this is a great way to get the kiddos involved with the gifts for their grandparents. These salt dough ornaments are easy to make + decorate and will hold up well for years.

Four // Barefoot Dreams Cardigan // It doesn’t matter if you’re 48 or 84, everyone looks amazing in a Barefoot Dreams sweater! The fabric is so soft and it comes in 14 color options, so there’s plenty of variety to choose from. I might even have to snag one of these for myself this year!

Five // Magnolia Journal Subscription // If you haven’t browsed a Magnolia Journal then you are missing out. The gorgeous photos, inspiring stories, decorating tips + more are well worth the trip to the bookstore for a copy. You can actually order a subscription straight from Amazon which makes your shopping that much easier!

Six // Bug Bite Thing // I know you’re thinking that there has to be a typo here, but that’s just the name. We swear by this crazy little do-dad and it has saved sweet Isla from her mosquito bites this past summer. It’s a perfect stocking stuffer for grandparents so they have one handy whenever the kids come to play.

Seven // Personalized Bag // I love the quality of items that Mark and Graham offer and this bag looks beyond dreamy. You can choose from a variety of bag styles, colors and materials, strap types and lengths, and add a monogram to finish it off. There are also a ton of messenger bag, backpack, and briefcase options for grandpa!

Eight // Timeshel Photo Subscription // I've been using this photo service since 2014. The beautiful prints would be so fun to have sent to a grandparent every month. You pick the prints from your phone and they get printed and sent to the grandparents. The quality is excellent! One of my fav gifts to give to newlyweds, new parents, and grandparents. You can use my referral code: LRPSL to take $6 off of your first month!

Nine // Custom House Painting // We gifted a painting from this Etsy shop to my parents a few years back when they were preparing to move from our childhood home. It made them cry--they loved it so much!

Ten // Wireless Vacuum // As great as it feels to have a clean space, the actual cleaning part can be a drag, especially as you’re getting older. A wireless vacuum is a perfect way to make life a little bit easier for mom or dad while still getting them something that they probably wouldn’t buy for themselves.

Eleven // Custom Name Pillow // If there’s one thing that grandparents love, it’s showing off the grandkids whenever they get the chance. It’s like hello, do you remember me? Your actual child? Ah, c’est la vie, I suppose. These personalized pillows are the perfect way to let the grandparents show the kiddos off around their home and you can customize the color, font style, and text color.
