The Best Gifts for Kids Ages 4-5

I’ve had so much fun putting together the four + five year old gift guide this year. I feel like this is the age where kids are not only really showing their personalities, but also are gaining a more complex understanding of the world and their place in it. These toys encourage both independent play and collaboration as well as soft skills like critical thinking and patience. I’m so excited to see which ones you grab this year!

One | Archery Set // Two | I-Spy Ocean Game // Three | See-Saw // Four | Kids Dominos // Five | DIY Lip Balm Kit // Six | Flash Card Games // Seven | Kids Theater // Eight | Magic Tracks // Nine | Barbie Fashionista // Ten | Flower Press // Eleven | Tote-a-Fort

One // Ball // This ball is one of brody + Isla's favorites to play with at the open gym we go to. The little nobs make it a great sensory toy and it’s suitable for a variety of ages.

Two // Bike // We’ve been looking for a “big boy” bike for Brody and I think we’ve finally found it! I went with a neutral color so that we can easily pass it down to Isla when she’s ready for her own set of wheels.

Three // Lego Box // Legos are such a classic toy and this box contains nearly 500 pieces! There are legos in every color of the rainbow and it’s a perfect gift for girls AND boys. There’s no limit to what you can create, so it’s great for encouraging imaginative play!

Four // Cotton Candy Machine // Make every day a state fair day with a cotton candy machine. It’s easy enough for kids to use themselves and they’ll have so much fun mastering the cotton swirl.

Five // Magic Set // Usually when my kids disappear around the house I get worried, but not in this case. Encourage their sense of wonder and magic with a starter magic set that has everything you need to amaze your friends and family.

Six // Pinball Machine // Smaller than what you would find at the arcade, this pinball machine is perfect for any room in the house and works well with kids’ smaller hands. My favorite part is that the pinball maze is totally customizable, so there’s always a new challenge for your players!

Seven // Bouncy Ball // This bouncy ball is a major deal (under $15!) and has fun confetti and pom poms inside that fly around as your kiddo bounces. Each ball comes with its own air pump and is great for practicing balance.

Eight // Vtech Watch // Our kids are so interested in the tech that we wear, but I want to put off smart phones and watches until they’re at least 25. This Vtech watch is a great option to introduce technology in a safe way that parents can control. The watch has games, can take photos, and has an analog clock.

Nine // MagnetiBooks // Think your classic Mr. Potato Head, but with about 700 more options. The MagnetiBook functions as both a carrying case for all parts and a canvas for creating endless silly, scary, and sweet faces. Create one of the suggested designs or dream them up yourself!

Ten // Gumball Machine // More than just a regular gumball machine, this option from Thames and Kosmos allows you to create cool stunts and tricks for the gumball to pass through. The configurations teach show physics in real life so your kids are learning while they build.

Eleven // Market Stand // I am SO excited about this sweet market stand - it’s one of Brody’s gifts this year! The stand itself is pretty simple, but I love that because there’s no wrong way to play with it. The backside of the cart has four cubby spaces and the front functions as a chalkboard.

Twelve // Wooden Doll House // This sweet and simply dollhouse has a convenient carrying handle on top and closes with a latch on the side. It’s made from unfinished birch wood so you can either leave it plain, or decorate it yourself!

Thirteen // Sled // Now that we’re living in a place that has snow (I still can’t believe it sometimes), I’ve enjoyed picking out winter toys for the kids to use. This sled is perfect for breezing down snowy hills and slopes and has an emergency brake and steering wheel.

Fourteen // Walkie Talkies // This set of rechargeable walkie talkies comes with watch straps, lanyards, a guide book and two cahrging cables. They hold a charge for 24 hours of talking time and can connect up to two miles apart!
