A Floral Brunch to Celebrate Our Sweet Baby Girl

Celebrating sweet babies. Is there anything better!? I debated for months whether or not I wanted to have a celebration for our little one on the way. After a big, beautiful shower for Brody and 2+ years of parenting, I felt like we had nearly everything we could possibly need for baby #2.

But a baby celebration is so much more than the registry and the gifts, it is a time to get excited for baby. It is a time to gather with dear friends and family before life gets hectic. It is a time to celebrate the miracle of life. Our celebration was just that. The perfect morning with those I love dearly, those who have made this motherhood gig so rewarding.

The Decorations:

Floral, feminine and classic. We used a combination of pale pink, white, green, and rose gold for the decorations.

The statement table was the main area we decorated. The gorgeous 16ft long table was adorned with ivory chiffon down the center. We layered eucalyptus branches with vintage glassware from my mom and grandmother, which made it extra special. The glassware served as mini vases for the carnations, peonies, roses and daisies creating a beautiful centerpiece.

We filled the floor with balloons in different shades of pink and white. Most of them ended up under the table within minutes, but it added a festive touch for the time being.

The Entertainment

We had a few planned activities for the shower, which really made the celebration fly by! I am the cheesy person that loves a good shower game.

Babies are Sweet

If you know me, you know I have a big sweet tooth. It should come as no surprise that a game involving candy would be my favorite. We stocked up on 5 unusual flavors of salt-water taffy and did a little taste test with the guests. Flavors like honey, red licorice, and macadamia nut were in the mix. We passed out a cute form for guessing and gave each guest 2 minutes to try to identify a taste before moving on to the next flavor. Lots of giggles and fun guesses ensued.

Guess the Date

Inspired by this calendar, I thought it would be fun to have a board where guests could try to guess the day our baby would arrive. I used a simple Ikea easel and my favorite chalk markers to create the board. I cut up a package of pink post-it notes for the guests to make their predictions. It was fun seeing all of the guesses. We have kept the board in our living room ever since and each morning Brody loves crossing off the date on the calendar as he counts down to his baby sister’s arrival.

Diaper Raffle

In lieu of gifts and a registry, we held a diaper raffle for those who wanted to participate. It was awesome since diapers are one of the biggest expenses when baby arrives. Guests who brought a pack of diapers or wipes, earned a raffle ticket to place in a jar for a drawing. I put together a gift basket of some of my favorite treats for the prize (fancy chocolate, a sweet smelling candle, a cutesy coffee mug etc.).

The Food

Let’s be honest, brunch is my favorite meal of the day. My sweet momma planned all of the food. From pink donuts to platters of fruit, breakfast pastries to yogurt—it was a combination of delicious treats.

We kept the drinks simple with pink lemonade and fruit infused waters. The best part about throwing a brunch is that anything goes. You can have breakfast foods, lunch foods, desserts, alcohol, no alcohol, juices etc. Whatever you choose, it works. It makes planning the food a lot easier.

The Favors

Little champagne bottles served as our party favors. I intended to make fancy labels for them, but that did not happen. So last minute, I decided to create tags from “oh baby” coasters I found in the Target dollar spot. I love how they came out. On the back of the coasters we printed “Baby is coming, the time is near! When you hear the big news, pop open the bottle and send a cheer!” A big, pink, satin bow topped off the champagne bottles, along with a festive paper straw. We placed them down the table for all of the guests.

The Location

Joss + J, a local baby shop, has the best event space for little parties and celebrations. The big table and set-up worked out perfectly for our brunch. And can we talk about the statement wall in the shop with the “I’ll love you forever” quote? I couldn’t ask for a sweeter backdrop for a group photo with my favorite people.

I am still on a high from this perfect day. Now the countdown has begun for our little girl’s arrival. Any day now, we are ready for ya!

A huge thank-you to my beautiful momma for making this celebration so special. From the food, to the set-up to organizing all of my crazy ideas in the days leading up to the celebration, to gifting us the sweetest treasures.
