Picking a Post Nursing Bra

Congratulations, momma, you are done with nursing! Whether it was for a week or a year, you did something amazing for your baby and you should absolutely celebrate that journey.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably been rocking the same nursing bras for the past few years. Now that my nursing time with Luca is winding down and we’re starting to wean, I wanted to give my bra collection a major makeover. There are so many options for non-nursing bras, I was pretty overwhelmed when I started to look! So, of course, I asked our community what they would recommend and y’all did not disappoint!

I received a ton of responses on Instagram and noticed that a few brands kept popping up. These all have great reviews and offer a variety of features like front closures, wide straps, padding, lift, and support:

  • Spanx

  • Lively

  • Wacoal

  • Soma

  • Natori

  • True & Co (There’s also a more budget-friendly option, True & Co for Target!)

I found some really great options and divided the bras based on style so you can easily flip through them depending on the fit/style you’re looking for. I’d also like to add that you may not be the same bra size you were before kids! If you’re comfortable, consider being fitted or measure yourself at home to make sure you’re getting the best fit.

Wireless Bras

I have to admit, I was a little unsure about a wireless option. I’ve nursed three kids, could a wireless bra do what I needed it to? But y’all overwhelming recommended both the Spanx Bra-llelujah! and the Soma Embliss, both of which are wireless. Some of these options are almost a combination between a sports bra and a bralette, and others have more structured cups.

Bralettes

I like the look of bralettes - they’re cute and comfy with a little extra flash. Almost all of these are unpadded, so if you’re looking for something padded, make sure to double check what the lining and padding are like before you buy. One note - the Pepper brand bra is specially designed for smaller busts so keep that in mind!

Underwire Bras

When I think underwire, I don’t always think comfort. But this selection has great reviews and also provides a lot of support. I also found a few options with wider straps which can also add to the comfort experience.

Sports Bras

It’s hard to find a sports bra that’s fitted enough for high impact exercise without smashing your boobs. Enter the underwire sports bra! These provide a ton of support and structure so you can run, jump, and move with ease.
