We Tried Out HelloFresh and Here Are My Thoughts

This post was brought to you in partnership with HelloFresh. HelloFresh provided us with a week of meals. Thank-you for supporting the sponsors that help keep Momma Society going. :)

The clock slowly creeps towards 5:00pm and my husband and I look at each other with panicked faces as we try to decide what to do for dinner tonight. Brody is usually standing in the pantry begging for a snack. We finally agree on a recipe and pull it out only to realize we are missing half of the ingredients. All the while, the witching hour has begun for Isla. This is what most evenings in our house look like these days. Pure chaos.

Knowing we needed to make a change to our evening routine, we were so excited to try out HelloFresh’s meal delivery service. We picked out our meal plan and a few days later a massive box from HelloFresh arrived on our doorstep. Inside, 3 perfectly prepared boxes of ingredients for 3 delicious meals.

Since many of the ingredients were pre-measured, Brody could help us prepare the meals. Rather than ravaging through the pantry begging for a snack while we cooked, he was entertained helping us make the meal. A true family affair!

In 30 minutes, we had a fancy dinner ready to go. On the menu our first night? Moo-Shoo Pork Tacos. Boy were they delicious.

A Few Things to Note:

The portion sizes of the boxes are huge. We set our meal plan to feed a family of 4 and I would guess most of the meals could have easily fed 5-6 adults. Be prepared for leftovers.

The directions are incredibly easy to follow and detailed. Instead of telling you to simply chop the mushrooms, they tell you to chop the woody stock off of the mushrooms first—something a non-foodie like myself would not know to do.

You can keep the ingredients packaged and refrigerated for up to 7 days.  This gave us flexibility with our schedule. We did not have to worry about things spoiling right away if we had other dinner plans a few nights of the week. All of the ingredients (except for a stock of bok choy) were super fresh.

The box is really heavy when it arrives. I am sure it varies based on the ingredients inside, but with the ice for shipping, it is heavy. If you have quite a few flights of stairs to reach your home, keep this in mind.

Overall, we were really impressed with HelloFresh. Tasty, easy, and fun for the whole family. Wouldn’t a week of HelloFresh meals make a great gift for a new mom?
