7 Fun Ideas for Celebrating Half Birthdays

"Imagine just one birthday every year ah, but there are three hundred and sixty four unbirthdays!" -Mad Hatter

The half birthday--just one of the many special events in our first year of parenthood. Motherhood has made me appreciate all of the milestones, both big and small. We are can't wait to celebrate Brody's half birthday for years to come. And any excuse for party hats and macaroons? You can count me in!

If you're new to half birthday celebrations, here are 7 fun ways to start the tradition in your family.

One

Celebrate every half birthday with a picnic in the park. Any excuse for a picnic, is a good excuse!

Two

Wake you little one up singing the Unbirthday Song from Alice in Wonderland (hat tip to Caitlin Waite for sharing this idea!)

Three

 Bake half a cake.

Four

Let your little one stay up an extra half an hour past their usual bedtime.

Five

For little girls, do a fun half-up half-down hair-do.

Six

ad the book " Oscar's Half Birthday " at bedtime.

Seven

For school aged kids, surprise them by taking them out of school half-way through the day to do a fun activity (My mom, who is a teacher. is probably cursing me for this suggestion. Sorry, mom!).

How do you celebrate half birthdays in your family?
