We are finishing up Brody's first few weeks of preschool and I am quickly learning that preschool means colds. Between the Winter season and first real experience with a kid in a classroom—runny noses, coughs, and fevers have been lingering in our house. To prevent some of those midnight runs to the pharmacy (please tell me I am not the only one that makes these!), here are 6 cold and flu fighting essentials I have stocked up on.

It has been almost a year to the day that we found out we were expecting another little one. This means it has also been almost a year since I started dreaming up plans for a pink and gold nursery if we were blessed with a little girl. It may have taken us just a little bit longer than planned to finish Isla's special space. But hey, 3 months late is better than never, right?

You know that weird phase after pregnancy when your wardrobe suddenly doesn’t work with your lifestyle? That is where I am. Do I pull on the maternity leggings that are so comfy? Do I wear a dress and have to hide in the car every time I need to feed Isla on the go? Do I dare try to squeeze into something I wore before Isla was even a thought in our minds? Most days, it is a big no for those 3 options.

Earlier this year, I shared the Palm Springs inspired playhouse we built for Brody and got such a great response I wanted to share other fun playhouses. I stumbled upon Chelsey from Bright & Bold Design who designed a dreamy modern playhouse for her sweet daughter Charlie (she's also one of the awesome momma's in the private Momma Society Facebook Group!). 

Breastfeeding Brody did not come naturally. I envisioned it being an ethereal experience and a natural process that would just click at first latch. I remember struggling at the hospital with the lactation consultant as his little lip curled under and he could not get a firm latch. The first month or two of nursing was far from enjoyable, but we stuck it out and ended up having a great first year of breastfeeding. I have had quite a few moms ask how nursing has been going with Isla. It has been quite different so far, but in a good way.<

The best purchase we made this year was a king-sized bed. It has become our hangout spot during early mornings with two little ones. It has become our wind down spot where the kids change into their pajamas. And on Sunday mornings, it has become our donut spot--our favorite weekend tradition.

The last trimester of pregnancy and our first weeks as a family of four took a toll on our usual healthy lifestyle. To put it simply, Brody learned the menu at Chick-Fil-A and we all vegged out in front of screens a bit more than is socially acceptable. Now that we have surpassed the 6-week postpartum mark, we have slowly started to get back on track with our health and fitness. From morning smoothies to vitamins to exercise, here is a little glimpse at the changes we are making.

The truth about life with two little ones. I am not going to sugarcoat, it is hard as hell some days. Exhausting, tiring, emotionally draining and yet, at the same time, ridiculously heartwarming and rewarding. People keep asking how life is with two and I wasn't sure. It was new. It was exciting. It was a novelty. I knew the truth would take a few weeks to wiggle its way out. Once the “just checking-in” messages slowed down and the excitement of a new baby faded. When the sweet meal train came to an end and JD went back to his regular work schedule. That is when I could sit back and really reflect on what life was now like.

The clock slowly creeps towards 5:00pm and my husband and I look at each other with panicked faces as we try to decide what to do for dinner tonight. Brody is usually standing in the pantry begging for a snack. We finally agree on a recipe and pull it out only to realize we are missing half of the ingredients. All the while, the witching hour has begun for Isla. This is what most evenings in our house look like these days. Pure chaos.

Now that it is officially Fall, Halloween has been heavy on my mind. Not just fun halloween snacks, but costumes as well. It is going to be tough to top Brody's garbage man costume from last year, but we are going to try!

I go back and fourth between wanting to DIY our costumes or taking the much less stressful route of ordering them. The other day, I found myself browsing through over 1500 toddler and kids costumes on Amazon. Boy was I impressed with how cute some of the choices were, so today I thought it would be fun to round-up my favorites below.
