Count Down to Christmas: The Best Advent Calendars of 2018

Now that we are moving past Fall and into Winter I am getting so excited about the Holiday season. One of my favorite ways to make the season last longer is to start early on by breaking out the Advent calendar on December 1st. I think Brody asked every single day of October if today was Halloween, so hopefully counting down the days until Christmas will help Brody understand when the big day is arriving!

Here is a round-up of the best Advent calendars I’ve found for 2018:

One: The Holiday Aisle Christmas Barn Advent Calendar | $78.99 (56% off on Wayfair!) | If your child loves animals this is a perfect advent calendar. All the doors on this lifelike barn has a barnyard animal and your little one will find Santa behind door number 24.

Two: Wee Gallery Hanging Advent Calendar | $80 | Christmas is kind of known for it's bright colors but I love the simplicity of the monochrome with gold accents on this beautiful wall hanging.

Three: Gingerbread House Advent Calendar | $42 | This calendar is sure to appeal to your inner sweet tooth! A fun way to hide small treasures for your kids each day of December.

Four: Crayola Christmas Countdown Activity Advent Calendar | $17.86 | This is a fun one for kids. Each day there is a new holiday-themed craft to help make counting down to Christmas fun. The crafts would make cute gift ideas for family and friends.

Five: K Port Gift Company on Etsy Festive Advent Calendar Christmas Bags | $30 | These 3x5 or 4x6 bags are so fun and versatile. They can be hung along mantel or placed in a bowl on the coffee table, and can be filled with small toys, chocolates, ornaments or whatever!

Six: Vermont Christmas on Etsy Nativity Fabric Advent Calendar | $39.95 | This is a more traditional representation of the Christmas season. Each pocket on has a velcro stuffed figure that is removed and added to the scene each day.

Seven: Plaid Tree Advent Calendar | $40 | Fill each of the pockets with a little treat and your toddler will love checking this adorable tree on the days leading up to Christmas.

Eight: LEGO City Advent Calendar Building Kit | $47 | This is a fun advent calendar especially if you have a LEGO lover in your house.

Nine: Galvanized Bucket Advent Calendar | $81 | I love the charming holiday farmhouse feel of this wall hanging. If you aren't a big fan of over-the-top Christmas decor this is a great subtle option.

Ten: Pottery Barn Glitter Houses Advent Calendar | $129 | This cute advent calender is a lot of fun. It lights up from behind which makes the windows of the homes glow to create a wintery village.

Eleven: Pottery Barn Kids Merry & Bright Advent Calendar | $55 | This personalized wall hanging is perfect for any family. I love the fun pom pom details and pops of fun colors on the neutral background.

Twelve: PLAYMOBIL Advent Calendar - Royal Ice Skating Trip | $25 | This is another fun one for kids. Each day your little one will love finding a new figure to add to a royal ice skating trip on a frozen lake.

Creating Advent calendars are also a great holiday activity to do with kids. I found a ton of ideas on Pinterest and created a board here for those who love a little DIY holiday project.

I've also found some fun DIY options on Amazon for you to check out!

One: DIY Black and White Christmas Owls | $20 |

Two: DIY Red and Green Boxes | $25 |

Three: DIY Felt Christmas Tree | $16 |

Whether you buy, make your own, or both Advent calendars are a fun way to spend the month of December while waiting for Christmas.

Does your family use Advent calendars? If so, where is your favorite place to buy them?
